I worked on a NICE lady yesterday who has been battling Ovarian cancer since 2011. She was really scared to get massage ~ even asking me if massage would "spread her cancer." I've had continuing education, and basically what massage does is helps your body to lessen the stress hormone, cortisol, helps your lymphatic system stimulate & get rid of toxins, helps your body reach homeostasis, which is where your body is close to the best PH level as possible. This is a good question she asked, and probably one that a LOT of people with cancer are concerned with. My job is to relax your muscles, give you better circulation, help you to reach a healthy level of sleep & stimulate your immune system. I LOVE what I do. I really have met some of the neatest people in my life doing this & I APPRECIATE this gift I get to do. By the time my client left, we were hugging & I will get to see her in a couple weeks again. She TRUSTED me, I TRUST that I can help her, so I am just thankful & putting this on my blog!
When I turn on the news, most all of it (probably 98% of it?) is BAD news. That puts the STRESS hormone in our bodies, scares us, tenses us up, makes us feel yucky. I wish there was a channel on the television for just GOOD news! I want to help people realize that we can concentrate on the GOOD & we will be much healthier. So a massage, a walk, a rest, a relaxing book, anything that makes you feel good, I hope you get to do that this weekend.
In the meantime, I'm going to show you some of these wonderful sayings so anyone that reads this can concentrate on GOODNESS, relaxing, good health, a deep breath, a sweet moment that makes you grateful, and anything that makes your body feel relaxed.
Encourage someone, don't point out the bad points first, if you know someone wanting to try something new, lift them up.
A grateful heart is open to lots of joy!
It wasn't by accident that we met!
A cleansing breath doesn't just have to be for yoga! Practice that when you lay down at night. If you can't see your chest rise & fall, you aren't giving your lungs a good workout, you are just flaring your nose :) You want to see your chest rise & fall when laying flat.
If you like the music, DANCE! That's some of the best exercise you can do, and you don't really hear of muscles being pulled while dancing like you do when someone works out at the gym!
Ok. I'm off my soapbox tonight!
Good Night!
